The council is actually looking at various options for managing these facilities. We want to provide an excellent service whilst getting value for money. Getting value for money does not necessarily mean cutting costs. The performance of our leisure services has never been in doubt but it is possible that external providers, through their specialist focus and expertise will be able to offer additional benefits.

We have invited a number of organisations to put forward their proposals and we are still in the process of weighing these up, alongside the option of retaining the management in house.

More information will be available to the public on the 23^rd Marcy 2008, when the Council Agenda papers containing the results of our investigations to date are published. We will then be holding a Council meeting on the 3^rd June 2008 to discuss the best way forward. At present however, I would stress that we are just testing the market. I reiterate that these facilities are not for sale."

At a meeting of Mole Valley District Council on the 22^nd April 2008, councillors discussed the plans for the district’s leisure facilities. However the Liberal Democrats say that the facilities are to be sold. Their councillors should be better informed and listen to the facts."
