"VICTORY FOR COMMON SENSE" SAYS CONSERVATIVE COUNCILLOR

Following on from the announcement in the press that concessionary bus fares in Mole Valley were only to operate from 9.30 a.m, the Conservative Administration has managed to negotiate an extension to all concessionary fares in Mole Valley so that they will start at 9.00 a.m.

Conservative Leader of the Council, Tim Hall said:-

"We have always opposed the introduction of concessionary fares for 9.30 a.m. Recently the London metropolitan boroughs introduced their concessionary fares from 9.00 a.m and so we decided to go back to Surrey County Council and their public transport division. I am pleased to announce that we have successfully managed to negotiate a Mole Valley extension to all concessionary fares so that they will start at 9 a.m.

This will cost us a small amount of money from the £60K in the Transport Budget, possibly as little as £5k or a maximum of £17K. We suspect that when the actual figures appear it will be fairly low."

Daphne Ladell, Conservative Councillor for Boxhill and Headley said:-

"I am really pleased that we have managed to get the time for the concessionary fares put back. Many of my residents are elderly and they need the earlier bus times so that they can get to hospital appointments. It’s a victory for common sense."
