MISSING 6FT TALL, WELL GROOMED, LAST SEEN 8.30PM ON TUESDAY
Members of the Mole Valley Development Control Committee were due to consider two applications for a small office building or two flats behind 5 Church Road in Bookham Village last Wednesday.
The Planning Officers were concerned about the effect the development would have on an old protected horse chestnut tree in one of the adjoining gardens and also a cedar tree which had recently been planted as part of a Tree Replacement Order.
The tree went missing the night before the meeting and when a number of Committee members inspected the site on the day of the meeting the tree was not there!
Conservative Councillor Janette Purkiss (Bookham North) said:-
"This is all rather mysterious, but the tree appears to have been professionally removed. It was not removed by the applicant and should any of our residents know the whereabouts of this tree we would like to know. The police have been informed."
