COUNCIL SAYS "500 NEW AFFORDABLE

HOMES IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS"

Mole Valley has announced that it aims to enable 500 affordable homes in the next three years. Conservative Councillor David Walker, Portfolio Holder for Housing said:-

"Since 2004 Mole Valley has enabled over 400 affordable homes. However we still have about 3,500 families on our waiting list for affordable housing. We are currently working with organizations such as Mole Valley Housing Association on schemes that will hopefully deliver some 500 homes in the next 2-3 years."

Part of the 500 target is the 300 affordable houses promised by Mole Valley Housing Association when they took over the council’s housing stock in 2007. Councillor Walker will be meeting with the Housing Association very soon to find out what progress has been made. In the meantime, Mole Valley District Council will also be looking at how the Housing Association is performing on repairs as well as checking that they are bringing their houses up to the Decent Homes Standard.

The figures for affordable houses built in Mole Valley are as follows:-

04/05 79

05/06 86

06/07 201

07/08 67
