Man arrested for stealing scrap gold
A forty-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he had been caught hiding in a abandoned garage with a box full of scrap gold. The man had probably stolen the gold from a guest of a local hotel. The woman called the police yesterday to report that somebody had broken into her hotel room the day before. The person had stolen a box full of old jewellery that had been hidden under her bed. It is unclear how the thief had managed to get into the room, but it is believed that the window had been left slightly ajar. The alleged thief was sitting in a deserted garage when a police officer from the local station accidentally came across him. The man was drinking alcohol and looking through the scrap gold from the wooden box. He refused to share any information on where he got the gold from. He is now being cross-questioned at the local police station. It is the second case of theft at the little hotel reported this year. Last month, a family of four lost their mobile phones, two computers, an iPod and some other electronic devices. Their room was broken into early in the morning, soon after they had left it for breakfast. The thief was never found. Once the scrap gold was traced, the police have a clue of who might have stolen the electronic devices, but of course, nobody can be accused at this point.
