Councillor Kate Horden
Brockham, Betchworth and Buckland
Kate was elected as a Conservative Councillor in May 2006. She is the youngest councillor in the Conservative Group at 25 years of age. She was 23 when elected. She was educated at City of London Freeman's School and Boxhill School and has an English Literature degree from Kingston University.
Kate has lived in Buckland since 1997 with her family. Kate like her family is committed to helping the local community her father is a Buckland Parish Councillor. She works in the Finance Department of Exxon Mobil in Leatherhead after working in London.
In her spare time Kate enjoys films, theatre, socialising with friends, spending time with her boyfriend and looking after her pets. Kate has been a keen horse rider throughout her life and she believes her first pony Jiminy Cricket will outlive her. Kate can often be seen walking her dogs around the ward, frequenting the local pubs (of which there are plenty to choose from) or both. Kate is the Member Champion for Customer Care and Equalities. Member Champions cover the priorities of the community in Mole Valley, and other important areas where the Conservative Council is striving to make a difference. She has taken on the challenge this year to review the way Mole Valley delivers its service to its customers. She was the champion last year for Young People and Children which she very much enjoyed and is highly motivated in getting more young people politically aware.
Kate is the Portfolio Holder for Customer Care and Organisational Development.
